I like the kind of hospitality that makes people feel comfortable rather than carefully entertained. I enjoy having people around a table, but I also value an evening with nowhere to be. On a quiet afternoon, I might make a batch of soup, try a new bake, or tidy a favourite corner. I appreciate people who notice the effort behind a small kindness and offer their own in return.
