My idea of a pleasant detour often involves a small bookshop and a place to sit with a coffee. I enjoy a conversation that wanders from an interesting idea to an ordinary detail of someone's day. I enjoy finding a small detail in a familiar story that I missed the first time. I'm happiest when things feel easy rather than carefully staged.
