I like early starts when they lead somewhere worth seeing. I enjoy coastal paths, quiet parks, and stopping somewhere small for a late lunch after a good walk. I like ending an outing somewhere comfortable, with a chance to sit and talk about the day. I'm usually ready to try a different route, especially if there's a good view at the end.
