My favourite plans often involve a kitchen, a long conversation, and no reason to check the time. I usually cook with music on and tidy up a little as I go, although baking can undo all my good intentions. I like writing a small note beside a recipe so I remember what worked when I make it again. The evenings I remember fondly are often the ones that felt simple at the time.
