I notice the small things: a thoughtful message, a beautiful old building, or a song played at the right moment. There is usually a notebook nearby for a thought, a book title, or a sentence I want to remember. I usually remember a thoughtful conversation long after I have forgotten what was on the menu. I appreciate company that leaves room for both conversation and comfortable pauses.
