I like collecting recommendations from people who can explain why a book stayed with them. There is usually a notebook nearby for a thought, a book title, or a sentence I want to remember. I keep a short reading list, although an unexpected recommendation often changes it. I am happy when getting to know someone feels gradual, easy, and unforced.
